Criminal Expungement Clinic

Expungement is the process of going to court to ask a judge to seal a court record. People request an expungement when they have been denied a job, housing, or a professional license because of a criminal incident that shows up on a background check.

Attend a free information session and meet individually with an attorney regarding whether this is a realistic option for your situation. No pre-registration is necessary.

The Criminal Expungement Clinic will be held at the Rum River Library, 4201 Sixth Avenue, Anoka, MN 55303.

Due to limited resources, our free legal services are limited. At a minimum*, you must:

  • Be at or below 125% of the federal poverty guidelines for full services; 300% for limited services.
  • Be off probation or parole:
    o 10 years for violent felonies
    o 7 years for violent gross misdemeanors
    o 5 years for nonviolent felonies, violent misdemeanors
    o 1 year for nonviolent misdemeanors.
